It is highly recommended to do an overnight trip to Ninh Binh. However, if you schedule is tight, we could accommodate you with a day trip from Hanoi which covers the most highlighted sites and must do in our town. Ninh Binh is only about 90km from Hanoi, 100km from Hanoi Old Quarter taking approximately only 2 hours drive. Below are key-sites we offer for this day trip.

Trang An has become the new World Heritage (UNESCO Site) in Vietnam. The management provides boat trips through water caves/ grottoes rowed by local farmers. During the boat ride, tourists can see the incredible beauty of limestones and rock formations.

Many tourists have named Mua Cave (Hang Mua) the “Mini Grand Canyon of Ninh Binh”. Achieve the 500 steps to get high and record the stunning views of the Tam Coc River and the downtown of city.

The trip may also include one of these following sites, could be decided based on your research and interests:
Option 1: Hoa Lu Old Street (aka The mini Hoi An of Ninh Binh – Highly recommended)

Option 2: Hoa Lu was the ancient capital city of Vietnam from 968 to 1010. Here, kings under Dinh and Le dynasties built the citadel surrounded by karst-mountains. After a long period being suffered from the destruction of wars and weather, what remain now are the two sacred temples of our kings and a part of the old palace.

Option 3: Bich Dong Pagoda, located near Tam Coc, known as one of the oldest pagodas in the town

Trip schedule:

7:45AM: Get picked-up by our driver at your Hanoi accommodation in Hanoi Center/ Hanoi Old Quarter. Transferred by private A/C car to Ninh Binh. Journey is about 100km (2 hour drive).

9:45AM: Once you arrive in Ninh Binh, meet up with our local English speaking guide. Then, enjoy a 2.5-3 hour boat-ride through water caves in Trang An.

1:00PM: Have lunch in a local restaurant.

2:00PM: Visit one of these following sites: Hoa Lu Old Street, Bich Dong Pagoda, Hoa Lu Temple. We could also add some cycling (about 30-45 minutes) to the main program based on your need/ weather condition. Please let us know and specify your need/ choice at booking request.

3:30PM: Climb the 500 steps in Mua Cave.

5:00PM: Say goodbye to Ninh Binh and its people, our car and driver will take you back to your Hanoi. Trip ends at your Hanoi accommodation at around 7:00-7:30PM.

– We could also arrange for you motorbike with local guide and riders for sight-seeing activities in Ninh Binh. Trip cost is similar to car option.
